A federal insurance program that is available to individuals that are unable to work due to physical and/or mental disability.
Social Security Disability Insurance program or Title II is eligible to individuals that have worked in jobs covered by Social Security. Supplemental Security Income or Title XVI is available to individuals that may not be eligible for SSDI/Title II. Sometimes people are eligible for both.
You can file online for Title II. You can contact SSA for an appointment to file. You must file Title XVI with SSA.
